Now is normally the time when we reflect on the year gone past, recalling all the good times spent with family and friends over the past twelve months.
Who could have dreamed, twelve months ago, that we would be reflecting on such a bizarre and unprecedented turn of events?
Pandemics were usually restricted to far off continents, wearing face masks was a far eastern tradition that we scoffed at, and zoom was an ice lolly from our childhood days.
Not any more, for months now and with more to come we are in the grip of a worldwide pandemic, the likes of which, only very few would have experienced (Spanish Flu.) Masks are the norm and zoom has provided us with the platform to keep in touch and visibly enjoy each other’s company albeit in the comfort of your own home, I have no doubt that platforms such as zoom will be a big part of our lives from now on.
There is no doubt that the past few months have had a detrimental effect on our lives and our masonry but I am confident that by remaining cautious ( who would have thought our vows would have held so much significance) and patient we will emerge from this terrible ordeal stronger as people and reinvigorated as masons.
I am certainly looking forward to the day that we can attend meetings, being amongst friends, confident that the virus is under control.
It must be remembered that Covid 19 has claimed the lives of some of our friends and masonic brothers along with others who have passed to the Grand Lodge above this year, and I would ask that you take a moment on Xmas day to raise a glass in their memory.
To every member of Middlesex Mark, I thank you for your continued support and commitment, I wish all of you and your families a wonderful Xmas and happy New Year.
God bless you all
Provincial Grand Master.
