Updated guidance on the wearing of face coverings

Dear Sir and Brother,

Updated guidance on the wearing of face coverings

Today new rules come into effect making the wearing of face coverings in shops and on public transport mandatory.

The new rules bring England into line with Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland where this requirement is already in place.

Our existing guidance on the wearing of face coverings has therefore been updated and we now recommend that all our members wear a face covering when attending masonic meetings, unless exempt.

This change is effective immediately.

The use of hand sanitiser continues to be recommended and Members are encouraged to take a lateral flow test prior to attending meetings.

The test is available free from NHS Track and Trace via www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapidlateral-flow-tests or by calling 119.

Many masonic venues make temperature checking available and you are encouraged to make use of this facility where it is on offer.

This updated guidance, which aligns with that issued by the United Grand Lodge of England and Supreme Grand Chapter, will be kept under review and amended in line with any change in government rules.

We believe that these are easy and effective actions we can take to protect ourselves and others around us.

With fraternal regards and best wishes.

R.W.Bro. Ryan A Williams, P.G.J.W.
