Practical Support for Middlesex Almoners and Charity Stewards

Middlesex Mark is pioneering a new initiative designed to make support more accessible for Almoners, Charity Stewards, and indeed the wider membership. A practical electronic “Help” document is in the final stages of preparation, bringing together key sources of assistance into one easy-to-navigate guide.

The aim is simple: to help brethren and their families reach the precise support they need in no more than three clicks. Once complete, the document will direct users to a wide range of organisations including the MCF, MBF, MMBF, MAF, and specialist charities such as MIND and Carers UK. Importantly, it will remain a living document, continuously updated as new avenues of support are identified.

The resource will be stored on the Middlesex Mark shared drive, ensuring it is always up to date and easily distributed electronically, while paper copies will be available for those without digital access. In addition, a direct link will be available from the Provincial website, making access simple and immediate for all. This represents a first for Middlesex Mark—and potentially across other Provinces—signalling a more modern, connected approach to support.

But this is only the beginning. Plans are also underway for the Middlesex Almoner’s TeaRoom, a virtual meeting space where brethren who are housebound, overseas, or simply seeking companionship can meet online a few times each week. Following this, a dedicated platform—Stay-Connected—will extend this same sense of belonging and support to widows and disconnected members.

Together with the established WhatsApp Middlesex Almoners Group, these initiatives reflect a clear vision: to ensure that every member, regardless of circumstance, can access assistance and maintain a strong connection to the wider Masonic family.
