The Middlesex Mark Master Masons celebrated a significant day on October 30th, marking a momentous occasion for the fraternity. The Twickenham District Masonic Centre, adorned with double marquees typically reserved for rugby days, was filled with the camaraderie of over 300 Mark Master Masons. Among the esteemed guests were the M.W. Pro Grand Master, John Herbert Prizeman, and his Installation team, who were present to officially Invest R.W. Bro. Peter Hyde as the 17th Provincial Grand Master of Middlesex Mark Master Masons.

Following his own Investiture, R.W. Bro. Peter Hyde began by Investing his first Active Officers for the upcoming year, starting with the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, W. Bro. Darrel Palmer, P.G.J.D., and the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W. Bro. Stephen Heynes, P.G.Stwd. Their roles are integral to supporting the Province’s mission, and Peter expressed his confidence in their leadership and dedication. Each Officer received Peter’s personal thanks and encouragement, setting a tone of unity and purpose for the year ahead. With a team of committed Officers now officially Invested, the Province looks forward to a year marked by companionship, growth, and the continued strengthening of Middlesex Mark Master Masonry.

The Ceremony was a display of unity and tradition, with brethren from across the many Mark Provinces gathered to witness the Installation of Peter Hyde. Following the formalities, a grand meal was served to over 250 Mark Masons, marking the day with fellowship and fine dining that exceeded expectations.

Reflecting on the occasion, R.W. Bro. Peter Hyde expressed heartfelt gratitude for the warm reception and support he received. He extended special thanks to his predecessor, R.W. Bro. Eddy Garty, whose mentorship and endorsement paved the way for his new role. “It was a truly memorable day,” Peter shared. “I am deeply grateful for all your support and honored to accept the role of Provincial Grand Master for the Mark Province of Middlesex.”

Peter’s vision for his tenure as Provincial Grand Master centers on fostering unity and inclusivity among members. Emphasizing the essence of the Mark Masons as the “Friendly Degree,” he spoke passionately about creating more opportunities for social gatherings that include families and friends. “Let’s continue to build connections, especially through social events that welcome wives, partners, friends, and families,” he encouraged.

Peter also highlighted exciting plans to develop special-interest Lodges, specifically for rugby enthusiasts. “With Twickenham and the RFU just around the corner, the idea of Saturday meetings paired with a game sounds like a wonderful way to blend our traditions with shared passions,” he enthused. He noted that several brethren had already expressed interest in these gatherings, reflecting the vibrant, forward-thinking spirit of the Province.

In addition, Peter aims to host events across various meeting places, including several in London, creating even more opportunities for members to connect. “It’ll be a great opportunity to come together, and perhaps, to enjoy a glass of wine together after the day’s events,” he quipped, capturing the warm, approachable tone he intends to bring to his leadership.

In closing, Peter invited members to come forward with their ideas and share their visions for the Province’s future. “I’m here to listen anytime,” he assured, promising an open-door policy that welcomes members’ thoughts and concerns. “Please don’t hesitate to say hello—I promise I don’t bite!”

The day’s success was a fitting start to Peter Hyde’s new role, and with his vision of inclusivity, camaraderie, and innovative approaches, the future looks bright for the Middlesex Mark Master Masons.
