Watamu Project Update

Jack Flint provides the following update on his fundraising activites for the Watamu Project –

Yesterday (Thursday 15th August 2024) we received a donation of £3,000 for our Watamu Project.

It was a wonderful surprise by a remarkably close and special person who Lee and I have known for many years.

It is exceedingly difficult to put into words how this donation will help those in Watamu.

The donor has requested that it goes to two specific causes, and I have already enquired how it can best help those causes although anyone who has lived in Africa will know that the goalposts are on wheels.

This will make the total raised on my so called “Sponsored Diet” to £33,100.00.

As Lee has told me on numerous occasions the fund raising has been amazing, but the diet has not gone according to plan.

However, when I started my chemotherapy the Oncologist and MacMillian nurses said you should not diet, so I have had 24 weeks of complete freedom from being reminded that if I lost weight, I’d be fat.

The last year has been difficult for Lee especially with my cancer. I have hopefully helped by being positive and not too grumpy, although she still thinks I am a noisy person !

Being an Almoner of several Masonic Units in Middlesex has given me a purpose in life by helping anyone who has difficulties and who might need help remembering that there is always someone who is far worse off than you.

Lastly, I cannot thank the NHS enough and all those who have been unbelievable supportive to us over the past year.

Maybe by helping those less fortunate than us will be a sure way to get St Peter to let me into that higher place. PS do not ask me why.

Kindest regards, Asante Sana
