Temple Lodge Marks 150th Anniversary

On Thursday 15th February, 2024 the venerable Temple Lodge of Mark Masters No. 173 marked a momentous occasion: 150 years of unwavering service to the Mark Fraternity.

The distinguished Lodge, steeped in tradition and brotherhood, has been a beacon of light for Mark Master Masons across generations.

Founded in February 1874, Temple Lodge has stood the test of time, weathering historical shifts, two world wars, numerous world events, and social changes. Temple Lodge has stood tall and proud, as its name suggests.

At the celebratory gathering at 10 Duke Street, SW1Y 6BS. The Lodge welcomed its distinguished Guests, notably the Most Worshipful Pro Grand Master, John Herbert Prizeman. Our own Provincial Grand Master. R.W. Bro. Eddy Garty, his Executive Members, and 12 Active Provincial Grand Officers left an indelible mark on the Lodge.

The highlight of the Meeting was undoubtedly the presentation of the Sesquicentenary Warrant by the ProGM, who underscored the significance of this amazing milestone.

The Brethren walked the short distance to St James Square, welcomed by the concierge at the door of the East India Club and shown to the East India Room for a champagne reception.

There followed a superb, lavish three-course meal with plenty of fine wine.

The after-dinner toasts and replies by John Prizeman and Eddy Garty had the room in fits of laughter in their light-hearted banter over county lines.

All was completed by 9.15, giving the brethren plenty of time to get home after a truly excellent day.
