Visit to the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of Cornwall – Saturday 10th May 2025
On Friday 9th May, Right Worshipful Brother Peter Hyde, RAMGR, Provincial Grand Master, accompanied by his trusty co-pilot Worshipful Brother Steve Heynes, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, travelled to Newquay, Cornwall to attend the Annual Meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of Cornwall, to be held the following day.

With the satnav set to “Pasties and Pomp,”, their destination was the Atlantic Hotel and Spa, a distinguished venue situated on the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, with views extending across the beautiful Towan Beach.
The setting provided a fitting backdrop for a significant and well-attended event in the Mark calendar.
The meeting, held on Saturday 10th May, brought together a large number of brethren from across the country.
At the entrance of the hotel was a display of Cornish Blood Bikes, a Charity that is supported by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Cornwall Mark Master Masons, and craft lodges alike.

The Cornwall Provincial Grand Lodge extended a very warm welcome to all visiting delegations, and RW Bro Peter Hyde was received with customary courtesy and hospitality by RW Bro Peter Furness, Provincial Grand Master for Cornwall, and his executive team.
The meeting was very well attended, with representatives from many Provinces, reflecting the strong inter-Provincial support that is such a valued part of Mark Masonry.
The proceedings were conducted with efficiency and dignity, and the agenda was carried out with the professionalism expected at such an important annual occasion.
Following the formalities of the meeting, the assembled Provincial Grand Masters gathered for a group photograph on the clifftop – a striking location with panoramic views over the coastline.
The weather was exceptionally favourable, allowing everyone to enjoy the surroundings and the moment of fellowship.

The Festive Board that followed was a true highlight.
The dining room was full, the atmosphere convivial, and the meal itself was excellent.
The hospitality extended by the Province of Cornwall was, as always, of the highest standard.
Toasts were proposed and responded to with sincerity and warmth, and the spirit of Mark Masonry was evident throughout.
RW Bro Peter Hyde and W Bro Steve Heynes expressed their appreciation to the Provincial Grand Lodge of Cornwall for the invitation and the kind welcome they received.
The trip was both enjoyable and worthwhile, providing an opportunity to support fellow Mark Master Masons and to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Provinces.
Events such as this remind us of the wider reach of our Order and the value of making and sustaining connections with our brethren across the country.
